Children dream about going to camp – and parents lay awake at night wondering how to pay for it. Children in low-income families are eligible to receive one of 15 partial to full tuition assistance for summer camp. Working in collaboration with Shepherd’s Gate in Brentwood, several low-income families with children had their dream come true in the summer of 2003. These trained summer camp staff members introduce these children to age appropriate social skills, while encouraging physical growth, curiosity, self-esteem, and leadership.
